Power Station Planner is a small, independent site that helps people in RVs, vans, tents and rural homes choose portable power without overspending.
Who writes it
Hi, I'm Darin Anderson. I live in Southern Utah in the Mountain West, where long drives, remote campsites and the occasional winter outage are part of life. I research portable power stations for RV trips, camping and home outage backup, and I write up what I find so you can make the call with real numbers. I read spec sheets and manuals, check the math, and cite where every figure comes from. I don't claim to have hands-on tested the products on this site.
How we research
- Sources: manufacturer product pages, spec sheets and manuals, plus public references like NREL PVWatts and FoodSafety.gov. Every comparison shows the date we read the specs.
- No fake testing: We have not hands-on tested the products on this site, and we don't publish invented test results, star ratings or testimonials. If we test something in the future, we'll say exactly what we did.
- Unverified means unverified: If a spec isn't published where we looked, we mark it instead of guessing.
- Math you can check: Sizing advice uses simple, shown formulas (watts × hours, efficiency, reserve) so you can redo it with your own numbers.
How the site makes money
Some links are affiliate links. See the affiliate disclosure. Commissions don't affect which products we include or how we describe them, and we include specs that make a product look worse.
Corrections
Specs and prices change. If you spot an error, email hello@powerstationplanner.com and we'll fix it and update the date.
